Our NSCR Caregiver Support Program offers 3 ongoing Support Groups and 2 Wellness and Education Groups and all are currently thriving. However, we are always ready to welcome new members as many attest to how valuable they feel they are to their personal journeys. They are:
Caregiver Support Group (In person and/or Zoom)
Men’s Caregiver Support Group (specifically for Men caring for partners at home or in care) (In person)
Bereavement Group (In person and/or Zoom)
Persian Wellness and Education Group (fully in Farsi) (In person and/or Zoom)
Korean Wellness and Education Group (fully in Korean) (In person)
We also offer periodic FREE Workshops. For example, we just finished a 3-part Workshop (Sept. 9, 16, 23) on Zoom called ‘More than Platitudes – Making Self-Care and Resilience Come Alive’ with a Coach and ex-Geriatric MD. We are also offering a Workshop called ‘Targeted Strategies for Denial, Paranoia, Shadowing, and Anxiety’ with the Alzheimer Society of BC presenting (Oct. 29).
We were also happy to be co-presenters along with the other NSCR Senior Programs and the North Shore News of the Senior’s “Stuff You Might Want To Know” Expo that happened on Oct. 4 at Silver Harbour Senior’s Centre (huge thanks to them and all the sponsors and speakers). We were responsible for providing relevant content to the North Shore News and lining up guest speakers for the Speaker Series. We had 223 attendees, a record turnout, over the 4 presentations and many more people visiting our booth and the booths of other exhibitors for resources. This event followed on the heels of the annual Caregiver Expo which our Caregiver Program co-presents with the North Shore News every May during Caregiver Month. Both are proving to be great successes and fill a need for seniors and caregivers on the North Shore. We are proud to be part of them.
